Tried this place tonight and it was delicious! My daughter had sushi and said it was excellent. My husband and I had the NY Steak and Shrimp with a side of noodles. We mentioned to the cook that we were starving and he cooked our meal quickly and it was delicious. We usually drench our food in white sauce but didn't need to do that in this case. The waitress was friendly and the chef was also. The food portions were generous and we all had plenty left over even after we were full. We will definitely come back!

Owner was a complete asshole. We waited forever for our food and I ordered a non-alcoholic drink that came with alcohol

I recently went to Nami for my boyfriend's birthday on 9/24/14. We ended here because Benihana was too busy. On my way there, I called them. The hostess told me there will be no wait. We arrived there within 10 mins. (We arrived around 8:30pm) We got a table right away. Our server was super nice! if it wasn't for him, i wouldn't give Nami 2 stars. We ended up waiting for another 30 mins for the hibachi to start. I would have appreciated if they let me know there were only 2 chefs available. By the time we got served, we weren't hungry anymore. We ate about $110 worth of food.... And the food was no bueno. The chef was a sweetheart but this is a clear example of "Americanized Japanese food." He added butter and soy sauce, but there was no flavor to it. It was just oily and bland. The manager never once came over to check up on us. I have been going to Nami once a year for my birthday or a very special occasion and from the few times i have been back, the food got worse and worse. I don't mind spending money, but this experience i had on my bf's birthday ruined his birthday and my overall view of Nami. I will not be back anymore.

Ended up here since U Sushi was away on vacation. Walked in on 6/8/14 and it was dead was seated in the dining area. Our waitress couldn't be any more salty ... Throughout our whole meal she didn't smile once. Ordered the nami noodles, shrimp tempura roll, rainbow roll and fish eggs. The Shirley temple was bombarded with ice and had so much grenadine! Yuck! Terrible the bill came up to $47 and it was not satisfying... Felt like a waste. This place is overhyped to me could've drove to benihannas instead.

I called to see if there was a wait and there was no wait, but were short a cook. The hostess said to come in 30 minutes and they would seat us right away. We arrived 30 minutes later only to find it would be an additional hour. With 2 kids, this was not an option. This is our second bad experience at this restaurant, so we will not be back.

Absolutely LOVE this place. Staff is very kind and accommodating.Never oo long of a wait. The lunch special is awesome (its la box full of goodies) you get options to fill it but we usually get the steak and chicken catsu along with a California roll (which we swap for a more flavorful one), veggies, egg roll and rice also.. and salad. you get a lot. Just the other day i fell in love with the bubba jump roll. to die for!

My family knew this place since they move to Pines. Took grandson for his birthday because he wanted to have Suchy. (He like Suchy...) He order Salmon Roll, Sister had Crunchy Roll, Grandma had Lunch Nami Chicken Fried Rice & I had Spicy Tuna Rainbow Roll. As a surprise the waiter brought scope of ice cream with small candle & we sang Happy Birthday to him, (nice gesture of the place). The sister order Thai Donuts. Nice place, fresh made Suchy ( have to wait for the Roll) and must important grandson had what he wanted in that day :-)

Terrible restaurant management. We made an 8:30 reservation and arrived for our reservation at 8:20. When we complained at 9:00 because we still hadn't been seated. The manager was unapologetic and a little rude. He offered to seat us at the bar. We had two school aged children and declined to sit at a BAR. He then told us then it was our fault we had to wait longer because we wouldn't sit at the bar. When a table was finally freed, there was no rush to get the table cleaned. Hostesses don't know how to manage tables and are incompetent. Manager doesn't care about customer service.

Nami, the underrated! We have been customers of Nami for a couple years although until today I'd never set foot in Nami. My husband and I order delivery from them through DeliveryWow, and are usually very happy with the food. There are so many different things on their menu that it is really easy for just about anyone to find something good there, whether you are a carnivore or a vegan, or something in between. I am an appetizer-aholic, and Nami has loads of them including the Gyoza (dumplings), Beef Tataki (Hubby would kill for this), Coconut Shrimp, Seaweed Salad and Edamame to name a few. The Avocado/Shrimp salad is wonderful also. Mmmm. I wish I had room for that today! They have Hibachi stations on the right side of the restaurant, but those are not open during lunchtime. So Hubby and I will have to hit this place for dinner. Their website is funny as you launch the page and you hear this soft music and then the clanging of the knives and the sizzling, as the video of the Hibachi chef is playing showing the guy working the shrimp and rice and noodles and what's that? Flames!! Ohhhh...aaaah!!. LOL As to what keeps us ordering from Nami, I have found the Sashimi here to be very good and fresh, and it doesn't taste fishy. They almost always add bonus pieces to my order. They have some noodle dishes that Hubby loves, but man, I could make a meal just on the appetizers. Actually, I do make meals with the appetizers. If you're in Pembroke Pines, and want Japanese food, I would recommend trying Nami. They are tucked in a strip mall just West of University Dr. on PInes.

Wow! They could have served me fried cockroaches and I'd been happy...our service was phenomenal! After attempting same day reservations at the more popular hibachi restaurants with no success we decided to try out Nami. We were a little skeptical because of the reviews and also figured location was less desirable which would probably cheapen the experience but boy am I glad we tried them out. Our hibachi chef "Pete" was hysterical. We felt we were all part of a comedy show literally. From start to finish it was a full out experience. I had a shrimp tempura roll while everyone else had hibachi. Some chose shrimp, chicken and steak while another went for the vegetarian option. There was something for everyone! Loved the Thai tea which was deliciously sweet and "Antika" was kind enough to let me try before ordering the large glass. All in all service made this dining experience exceptional. Our hibachi chef was cray cray. He was skilled, funny, talented, funny, friendly...and did I mention funny...? Great overall experience!

This restaurant is the same concept of Benihana, just cheaper while maintaining the quality in food. The service is okay, could be better. We're regulars at this place. Therefore, a few of the staff already know us. This time around we ordered for appetizer tuna tataki, not my favorite wouldn't order it again. The tuna was not raw enough, too seared in the edges. The slices were cut way too thin. For dinner we habachi, I got the combination scallops and filet mignon and my husband shrimp and steak. My scallops and filet mignon was cooked to perfection!!! The meat was like biting into butter. Of course the cook was great! And cooked out meals to perfection. Nothing like a good steak, cooked the way you want it.

I came in here to enjoy a nice meal and catch up with a friend and I was pleasantly surprised. They have a hibachi section and a sushi section so we decided to try the sushi. We were sat in an area with pillow seat cushions, which were pretty and comfy. The surroundings seemed neat and clean. We were right near the sushi bar so we definitely smelled some fresh sushi. Our waitress was named Ateekah and she was an absolute gem! Very attentive and sweet. She stopped at our table a few times and was very patient. We ordered avocado salad which was delicious aside from the fact that the shrimp was still thawing. The lettuce and avocado was fresh.I also had the dragon roll which was delicious. My friend had the jb roll and she strongly recommends it. For dessert we had fried cheesecake. I recommend this place!!!

  • Chelsea G.

I usually am very satisfied with this place and their sushi- the dragon roll specifically. Unfortunately, I will not be returning after today. In the dragon roll there is shrimp tempura, cream cheese, scallion and avocado. Instead of shrimp I was given chicken and there was no cream cheese. How does this even happen? Anyway, the manager was very understanding and offered to re-make my sushi roll or give me a refund. Which is why I'm giving the 2 stars instead of 1.

The food is ok. I had the sashimi Bento box for lunch and I liked the presentation more than the actual food. The service was slow, but I did appreciate the quiet atmosphere.

Terrible terrible terrible. 20 min to get a table which turned into 40 ok understandable for a sat night. Then 2:30 hours to get a chef to cook our food. Wth?!?! Waiter after getting us drinks and soup salad never returned, called the manager and he just barked that the chef is coming which he didn't. Got 3 different people to see what's going on and nothing. A table which came in after us got served. What?! Have to say the food was petty good but at this point anything would have been good. We were starving! So my son didn't get veggies which came with his meal, my friend didn't get her scallops. Whatever just wanted to get out of there. Oh and nope the manager never showed up even to say sorry. Won't be going there again.. Ever.

Nami is a consistent place for good food in Pembroke Pines. Chef Takara's inventions rock (we don't like shrimp) - Off the Chain roll sub shrimp for white fish tempura, mango tango roll, tuna volcano roll, cajun booty roll etc. Teppanyaki tables are fun and entertaining for groups and kids. Fried ice cream is a kiddy favourite. Great for take out, delivery, and eating in. Fun to watch sushi be prepared. Sounds great, right? Why not 5 stars? Well service eating in is hit or miss fire. I had an office in this plaza and my cousin's law office was across the street. I used to eat at Nami 3+ times a week. One time when eating there with my cousin, she ordered the soft shell crab. She took a bite and spit it out. She smelled it and frowned. She then turned it over and it was green tinged underneath. When the lady "manager" came over she argued vehemently that the crab was fresh and my cousin (long time fisherwoman) didn't know what she was talking about. It was absurd. The woman was a harridan! The woman was angry at us becauseTHEY served rotten seafood. What if she had eaten it and gotten food poisoning??? Because of this, about 6 years went by where we didn't eat there again. Funny how a restaurant can screw themselves with horrible customer service. Ate there recently and the food is still really good. Service is still hit or miss.

What is with all the negative reviews? This place was good! Excellent service, skilled habachi chef, nice remodeled dining room with sushi bar and multiple Habachi tables. I had the Shogun Dinner with filet & lobster. The food was super flavorful and succulent! Everyone in my party was satisfied (and they are Japanese food snobs). The sake refills were prompt. The whole experience was on point. These other reviews must be dated. I'll definitely be back!!

I've been coming here for over 15 years. They have THE best sushi around. So fresh and the sashimi is just amazing. They cut all of their own meat and make all of their sauces in house. Their house salad woth honey garlic dressing is a MUST HAVE! They even toast their own sesame seeds. My husband and I visit here often and eat sushi at least once a week. The Hibachi is delicious, fresh and they cut their meat choosing the best cuts. I've loved this place so long everyone just has to know that here quality is #1. Johnny is a sushi master!! We love sushi and sashimi, but if you like rolls you need to try the Off Da Chain roll... amaaaaazing

My favorite place to eat! I've been going here for years eating hibachi style. The churrasco is my favorite. Ask for the cook Jessie he's so funny and just adds to the whole experience! Ask for yum yum sauce you won't regret it!

Came here on a Saturday night around ten p.m. Please was not busy. We were seated right away. We ordered the venus roll which had tuna on top with shrimp tempura and crab inside the roll. Was delicious. Also had a basic Cali roll with cream cheese added and deep fried. Tasty. And for entree we ordered the chicken fried rice. Omg the rice was very flavorful and meat was tender. Food is a bit pricey. Two rolls and an entree came up to abt $35. Give it a try.

I am deff a fan and am SO glad I live close by. I really love hibachi and although I will never turn my back on my Samuri, I do enjoy Namis a whole lot. They have very fresh sushi, a great hibachi menu with EXCELLENT prices. Great lunch specials. And to top it off - Full Freaking Bar! WOOHOOO Even when I lived in Kendall - a good hibachi place was about 25-30 minutes away, now I just need to drive 10 to get me a nice drink and some good sushi or steak. I was very impressed with the attention and courtesy and regulars which were at the restaurant.

I'm not too sure about some of the other reviews on this place that rate it very low. My family and I have been customers here for several years and never really had any problems that couldn't be resolved with a simple request from the server or manager. Although there has been the occasional "hiccup", we have always been completely satisfied with the level of service and consider this place to be one of our favorites. We almost always sit at the hibachi tables (sometimes in groups of 10+), and even though the quality of the hibachi chefs does vary, we always have a good time and tasty food. Their sushi isn't the best I've ever had but it's still above average and fresh. The waitresses are always friendly and accommodating even when they're busy. Overall I would recommend this place to anyone I know, you won't be disappointed.

I wish I didn't have to give this restaurant any star AT ALL!!! My fiance and I went here for dinner last night (6/29/2012) at approximately 7pm and everything was absolutely horrible. We had been to Nami several times before and always sat at the individual tables. Never had a problem with food, service or atmosphere. However, last night we decided to try the hibachi table. Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted and lead to a hibachi table towards the back. Actually, the last one in the back. We were directed to our chairs across from another couple. We greeted each other and that was that. My fiance had left his reading glasses in the car, so he went out briefly to get them. In the time he left and returned they had sat another couple with a small child (approximately 2 years old) at the hibachi table. My fiance returned, we ordered and waited for the entertainment at the hibachi table in hopes it would take our attention away from the now unruly, crying child, who was making a fuse, banging the plastic plate on the table, throwing his mother's cell phone on the floor and to other tables, etc. etc. etc. I think you get the picture. Meanwhile the mother and what appeared to be her date DID NOTHING! It was a nightmare! We sat there and ignored it as much as possible. At times, it was just impossible because it was nonstop with this little boy. Our server forgot our drinks, forgot our sushi order and forgot our Saki! The hibachi cook attempted to be entertaining, but when the mother of the 2 year old kept putting the napkin over her baby's face he stopped entertaining and just frankly acted like he wanted to be anywhere but there and by this time so did we and by the facial expressions of the guy and girl across the table, they wanted the torture to end too. ALL and I mean ALL of the food tasted exactly the same - we had Neptune's Platter for$27.95 with Lobster, Shrimp & Scallops and King's Feast for $24.50 with Shrimp, Steak & Chicken. It was a mess! The chicken was hard, the scallops and shrimp overcooked, everything was just a waste. The first couple to leave was the couple across from us. Poor girl, she didn't even touch her food, instead it was all in a to go box. The next couple to leave was the couple with the 2 year old...once they left my fiance got up and spoke to the manager. He explained that things that happened and that he was very unhappy with the service as well as the atmosphere. The manager proceeded to tell him that in the future he should request to move. That was all, not an "i'm sorry, let me give you 10% or 20% off you bill" or how about a complimentary drink or Saki or we comp your appetizer...instead nothing. This place stinks! We don't ever plan on returning to this restaurant. They could care less if you enjoyed yourself or not. The service and management are the worst I have ever experienced.

This place was great! The Hibachi chef was very entertaining and the sushi was awesome. While in South Florida on business, a friend had recommended this place and he was right. I will definitely be back. I would have rated it 5 stars, but the last couple of 5 star ratings I put for restaurants got filtered out by Yelp, so now I put 4 stars...

Oh, Nami! What has happened to you over the years? While I would not consider myself a regular here, I have certainly dined here a minimum of a dozen times. After tonight's experience, I know I will not be returning any time soon. I have noticed a steady decline in the quality of the food here, but it's been a decent, close-to-home option for sushi, in an area that really doesn't have a stand-out "great sushi place". Tonight's experience included a well-meaning, but new waiter who was not at all ready for the job, as well as a kitchen that was completely unable to send out dishes either on time, or of any quality. The best of any of the items that arrived at our table was "fair". The worst was "horrible". The situation was so bad, that the manager was unable to salvage it after being called over not once, but twice. Something drastic has to happen for this place to get back on track.

Service was ok but the food was excellent! The sushi and sashimi is fresh and delicious. Gotta try the Mango Tango Roll (crab, cream cheese w/ avocado, topped w/ little chunks of grilled tuna and mango)... yummy! And the Beauty and the Beast was very good, too. Will definitely be back.

OK I used to love this place, but it's majorly gone downhill in the past few years. The first couple of times was great and the food was good. A few months ago we decided to sit in the individual tables instead of the teppanyaki grill and the service was awful. You had to practically yell "fire" to get any attention. The food was mediocre. We thought ok maybe this is a teppanyaki place and not so great as a regular sushi joint, so we'll give it another shot. Bad idea. We went there this past weekend and it was a nightmare. Would you let kids run around all over the place if you were running a restaurant with hot grills everywhere? I think not. Well these people don't seem to mind. Also, the waitress was overeager to shuffle us out of there, even though we had ordered the filet mignon and were trying to enjoy our meal. I barely started eating when she asked me if I wanted a box. NO. Needless to say we didn't stay for dessert. Oh I almost forgot, there was a huge pile of dirty plates, napkins, and trash right next to us. If she would have focused on cleaning that up instead of trying to hurry us up, that would have been great. Not coming here again.

  • Lauren A.

The sushi is good, Johnny is a great chef. The service is always a toss up, some waitresses are really nice but sometimes I get this one waitress who never heard of a smile. Michael the manager is so unpleasant. The way he favorites big spenders and then neglects average loyals is disgusting. While I love the sushi for the price, I can easily say I don't come here for the service.

  • Tony G.

Stopped by this spot on a whim. Sushi was pretty below average. Server suggested this "off the chain roll" said it was her fav. It took a long time to arrive and when it finally got to the table it was un edible in my opinion. Now the server noting my face when I tried offered to take it back and exchange it for another roll which was a nice gesture. Aside from the excellent service the sushi itself just doesn't deliver, won't be back.

My friend and I really wanted hibachi. We found this place and gave it a try. I'm glad we did! The food was very good and the place was close by. We shared a Mexican Roll as an appetizer, which was great. We both had the churrasco and chicken hibachi option. The steak was a tiny bit over-cooked, but was flavorful and not at all tough. The service was also good. I would definitely come back!

The staff is horrible and rude. They act as if they don't need customers. Believe me their food is not that great. There are other sushi or Japanese restaurants that are better in the area. Go elsewhere where customer service is still valued.

So I've been to this place twice now, and sat at the sushi bar both times. This is my first review though. I recall on my first trip here that it was just ok. My sister and I liked our meals but it was kinda just ok. On my second trip there the food was still just ok. I liked the Tempura App. , but that could be just because I like tempura. The Orange Sunshine Roll and The Mexican Roll (though not very Mexican at all) were good. I did enjoy their Spicy Tuna Roll. I think 2 stars will suffice for now. I will return here one more time to try there Hibachi Service, and maybe i can give and extra star or two.
